Puma’s entry to the UK street scene: Trapstar

In April I wrote an article based on Grime, and the UK urban culture as a whole, and the strong relationship with the culture of kicks and went on to discuss briefly the history between the cultures. But most importantly I asked what or who was next? That was answered earlier this week via Puma. Puma went on to announce a collab with one of, in my opinion, London’s best independent brand’s by the name of Trapstar.


Before we get into the details of the collab here’s what you need to know about Trapstar. Created by Mikey, Lee and Will over 10 years ago and has continued to grow ever since. The roc nation cosign has led to the likes of Jay-Z, Rihanna and Cara Delevingne making various appearance’s in Trapstar pieces. The celeb appearances don’t take nothing away from the actual pieces because the brand is able to pay homage to their beginning with one off pieces as well as bring out pieces that conform to current trend. And if you’re local you maybe lucky enough cop a throwback piece via the trap phone which is hand delivered in pizza boxes, something that was done during the brands early days.

On to the main event…Last week Puma and Trapstar via Instagram announced its future collaboration in the shape of a Puma Disc. An iconic silhouette accompanied by an iconic British brand. The combination of black, grey and red provide the shoe with a subtle look but yet so effective that it had forums with nothing but praise. I’ll let the picture’s do the talking.

Growing up what people call ‘the ends’ and seeing people like Mikey, Lee and Will achieve what they have and continue prove’s that with the right move’s it’s possible to make good of the situation. This is something the UK scene should be really get behind and support. I hope this leads to even more big collabs in the UK crep game because some parts of the scene have been slept on for too long.

No word on a release date but follow Trapstar and KingOfTrainers on social media platforms to keep up to date because you won’t want to miss out.
